Types of Online Learning!

Online learning isn't just for college aged students. There are a number of different online learning courses available, from one-time non credit classes to degree programs. If you're looking into learning online, these are the most common available options.

Degree programs Online

Online degree programs are offered by hundreds of colleges and universities around the world. Some schools offer only online training, while others are a traditional school that also offers training online. With the increasing popularity of the online school course, the lines between online and traditional schools is starting to get rather blurry. Online offers all the same degrees as a traditional classroom setting. Associate, Bachelor, Masters and PHD's are all available through online study. These degree programs usually take the same amount of time to complete as a traditional program, and some can be stretched out longer if need be. The tuition for the classes is usually about the same as a traditional degree program.

Certificate programs

Certificate programs are a great way to get started if you want to learn online. These programs can take anywhere from just a few weeks up to a year to complete. These programs can sometimes include the test for certification at the end of the course. They can also include the fees for certification tests in with the tuition to make payment easier for you. However, some online training courses only prepare you for the certification test. If this is the case, you will need to take the test and pay the testing fee on your own.

Non credit courses

Many different types of organizations now offer non credit courses for online learning. Most people will take these classes for their own personal enjoyment or enrichment. While most colleges will not let you use these as credit toward a degree, they are very helpful to increase you job skills or to learn something new just for fun.

Open courses

This is when a university will put all of the coursework for a certain class online for any online learner. This would include the lecture, assignments, tests and any other material used in the traditional class. This could be anything from one class to a complete degree program. This is free online learning and is offered by many colleges and universities. While you can't earn your degree using this, it is a great online learning system if money is tight or if you just want to learn for your own personal gain.

Hybrid (blended) classes

These classes are a combination of online and physical classroom learning. Hybrid classes are mostly available at traditional colleges that have physical classrooms, but some online schools also offer this as part of their online training programs if the program of study requires clinical time or lab work. Blended classes are a mixture of online assignments and discussions with in person lecture time and lab work. Also available are web enhanced classes which is a traditional class that also offers extra materials on the web for you to study online.

Online learning can be a fit for just about anyone. If you have access to a computer, you can fit it into your own busy schedule. Whether you're getting your degree or just taking one class, there is a program that will fit your goal and your budget.
